Our First Two Months Married

Since I have been informed...several times...that I need to start a blog now that we are married and need to update our family and friends about what is new in our life I figure I might as well cave and start. I figure I would make the first blog post about our last two months and our new married life. We got married in the Houston, Temple on May 27, 2011. The day was better than I could have imagined. Our family and friends made the day and Ryan and I knew that the choice we made that day was one that would affect us from here on out and it never felt so great.

After the wedding and reception we hopped a plane the next day to Playa Del Carmen for a week. It was beautiful, and we were so lucky to have Ryan's parents offer up their time share to us. We had this beautiful villa, that was HUGE. It was suppose to fit 12 people and with just the two of us it was bigger than any college apartment I had ever lived in! Before we left Ryan got scuba certified, which was perfect because we caught the ferry and rode it to Cozumel to do some diving for a day. We saw a ton of sharks and turtles and the coral was beautiful. We also spent a day at the spa and ate some amazing food.

When we got back from our honeymoon Ryan started summer classes right away and I went back to work. I then got called from a graduate program I had applied to saying they wanted me to come interview. I was so nervous, but Ryan told me I would do great. As Ryan's summer class came to an end (it was a 5 week class) I received a letter in the mail saying I had been accepted into the Counseling Masters program at UHCL. I was thrilled and even though the next 3 years are going to be full of classes and tests and working full time I am grateful to have Ryan for all the support he gives me. He has a year and a half left of civil engineering classes and also his internships. We realize that we are going to be poor, struggling and studying and are excited to grow from this stage in our life. However, nothing great comes without putting in the hard work, so we are rolling up our sleeves and getting ready for the work to start.

I am truly blessed to have married Ryan. Just today I came home to find that he had done the laundry; cleaned our bedroom; bathroom; kitchen; floors; vacuumed and cleaned the dog. He is so helpful and I am lucky to come home from work and see that he has done so much for me.

In addition, our nephew and my sister-in-law Lindsay have come into town for a visit and we love seeing them.  Colby is so much fun and I only wish they lived a little closer to us.  We are going to spend the next weekend in San Antonio seeing my sister for our nephew Carson's 4th birthday!  And just the other day I was able to have a girls night with my adorable nieces Madison and Bailey.  We watched a scary movie, ate pizza, made a fort (complimentary of Ryan's engineering skills), and did our nails.  We are truly blessed to have so much family surrounding us; especially when they are all so great!
